The SSMO

  • together with other professional associations and organisations, ensures optimal treatment and care for tumour patients
  • defines quality standards for the treatment and care of tumour patients in collaboration with other professional associations and organisations
  • is responsible for continuing education and training
  • represents the interests of all medical oncologists, regardless of the care structure (hospital or private practice, young or old)
  • Cancer patients should have rapid and equal access to scientifically proven, effective/innovative therapies
  • We want to create a health policy/regulatory framework that enables medical oncologists to treat and care for their patients effectively and to a high standard
  • We want to be recognised as a competent, innovative and reliable point of contact for health policy or clinical issues relating to cancer medicine
  • We are committed to a high level of care in cancer treatment
  • We want to minimise the administrative burden on medical oncologists so that they have as much time as possible for their patients and research
  • We maintain regular dialogue with key stakeholders
