I have questions about the postgraduate education programme in medical oncology. Who do I need to contact?
If you have questions about the postgraduateeducation programme, e.g., about the duration or recognition of postgraduate education, you can submit an enquiry to the relevant Title Commission (TC) via the e-logbook. Typically, the request is answered by making an assessment. The assessment records which postgraduate education is already recognised and which postgraduate education you still need in order to be able to apply for the specialist title in medical oncology.
I have questions about the catalogue of learning objectives in medical oncology (Appendix 1 of the postgraduate education programme). Who do I need to contact?
If you have any questions about the catalogue of learning objectives, please contact the SSMO office. They will forward the request to the responsible person in the SSMO Education Commission.
Which Swiss hospitals are authorised to provide postgraduate education in medical oncology?
All recognised clinics (A and B clinics) can be found on the SIWF homepage.
I would like to receive recognition for a period of postgraduate education abroad. What do I have to do?
It is advisable to submit a request to the Title Commission (TC) via the e-logbook before taking up the position abroad. The Title Commission will decide on the basis of the documents you submit whether and to what extent the period of postgraduate education abroad can be recognised.
I would like to have my work in research recognised to my postgraduate education in medical oncology. What do I have to do?
It is advisable to submit a request to the Title Commission (TC) via the e-logbook before taking up the research position (at home or abroad). The Title Commission will decide whether and to what extent your research time can be recognised on the basis of the documents you submit.
Which courses in palliative medicine and communication are recognised by the SSMO for specialist training?
You will find a list of recognised courses on the SSMO homepage. If you would like to have a course recognised, please contact the SSMO office and they will forward your request to the SSMO Education Commission.
I want to do a workplace-based assessment (Arbeitsplatz-basiertes Assessment - AbA). Where can I find the necessary information and documents?

I have a question about the specialist examination. Who should I contact?
Please direct any questions regarding the specialist examination to the SSMO office. They will forward your question to the examination commission of the SSMO.
I would like to apply for a specialist title in medical oncology. Who should I contact?
Please submit your application via the e-logbook to the relevant Title Commission (TC).
I have a foreign specialist title in oncology. Can I have my title recognised in Switzerland?
To have a foreign specialist title recognised, you must contact MEBEKO (Medical Professions Commission) of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). Further information can be found on the FOPH website.
I run a postgraduate education and training centre for medical oncology and would like to have my institution accredited as an A or B clinic. What do I have to do?
The application forms and guidelines for recognition can be found on the SIWF page. Submit your application via SIWF to the responsible Postgraduate Education Centre Commission (WBSK). As part of the accreditation procedure, the applicant clinic is usually visited, i.e., representatives of the SIWF and the specialist society visit the institution and get an idea of the postgraduate education on site. Based on the submitted documents and the visitors’ report, the WBSK decides on recognition as an A or B clinic for medical oncology.
I do not agree with a decision of the Title Commission (TLK) or the Postgraduate Education Centre Commission (WSBK). Who should I contact?
Legal action may be taken against decisions of the TC and the WBSK. Address your appeal to Appeals Commission for Postgraduate Education Titles.

Postgraduate Education Centre Commission
Commission consisting of a representative of the specialist society, a representative of the SIWF and the SIWF President. Responsible for recognising a clinic as a posgraduate education and training centre for a medical speciality.
